Finding Ourselves

On this third Monday of February, we celebrate the birth of George Washington, a man who rose from small beginnings as a surveyor to the greatness of a military leader and the first president of the United States. Through his explorations in his early career he found his purpose in leading his community.
Seeking purpose is a quest that hopefully we  will go through at some point in our lives. Whether young or old, we often find ourselves at a crossroads deciding on whether to take on personal self-serving endeavors or to seek greater satisfaction in fulfilling our moral duties to serve others.

In the first book of our “Dreaming Dreams” trilogy, “Adam in Taoland,” Adam’s wife,Tariana, discovers her purpose in life before Adam does. She spends her days volunteering to help others. Along with several other supportive figures, she gently prods Adam to find his true purpose, his own way of helping others.

In Book II, Homeland Rescued, Adam embraces his true  purpose as he navigates the twists and turns of leading a bloodless revolution to free his people from the oppression of artificial intelligence.

Let us all take whatever steps we can to fulfill our moral duties, and guide others to do likewise.. Whether it be helping an elderly neighbor, coming together in a community to restore a park to its former beauty, or loftier goals of leadership positions  – each and every one us can find our purpose, and discover the inner joy it brings, in  serving others.
